Order passwords by completing the xLEAD Order Form.

xLEAD sends 2 lists of passwords (refer to the xCHANGE Fulfillment Overview): technical tests (to check the technology) and ON THE DAY for the full run of the xCHANGE Simulation (and optionally a third set for a facilitator LIVE DEMO, if ordered).

Using the technical test passwords, check the hardware that will be used for the simulation session. See the xCHANGE Requirements page. If using students’ laptops (e.g., in a virtual format, send them the password/link to the simulation.

Prepare/print/upload the documents that will be needed on the day of the simulation session. Refer to the xCHANGE Project Notes and password links.

Distribute the Project Notes document, asking participants to spend 10-15 minutes reading it.

STEP
ON THE DAY:  CLASSROOM INTRODUCTION (30-60 MINUTES)

1

30 mins: Lead classroom introduction to pedagogical content and simulation scenario with all participants; see xCHANGE introductory slides.

2

10 mins: Demonstrate the xCHANGE Simulation using either the xCHANGE User Tutorial video or doing a live demo (with a LIVE DEMO password).

STEP
ON THE DAY:  SIMULATION RUN (~120 MINUTES)

1

Ask teams to prepare their strategy.

2

Distribute the ON THE DAY passwords (refer to the xCHANGE Fulfillment Overview), ask teams to login to the full session, and tell them the timeframe in which they need to complete the exercise (typically, 120 minutes).

3

First 15 mins: Check that all teams have started the simulation (either by looking at the report or at their computers). In the report, refresh the browser window to view up-to-date information on current status of the teams in the simulation.  If any team has an issue with a password, use one of the extra ON THE DAY passwords provided.

4

First 30 mins: Help teams with any specific questions they might have about the simulation functionality.

5

After 60 mins (optional): Provide a mid-point check-in where participants can leave their simulation sessions logged in. Briefly show the Summary report and the Score Evolution report.

6

Ask the teams to resume the simulation.

7

Continue to observe all the teams' progress using the report.

8

About 30 minutes before the end, remind teams about how much time they have remaining.

9

While it is not essential for all teams to finish, it is useful if they can reach the end since they will see the CEO final opinion and a corresponding news article.

10

Once each team has finished the simulation, ask them to answer the ‘debrief questions’ (in the simulation itself) as a team for 5-10 mins.

11

Once all the teams have quit the simulation, refresh the report to get the final set of information on where all the teams ended up in the simulation.

STEP
ON THE DAY:  CLASSROOM DEBRIEF (30-60 MINUTES)

1

Lead the debrief discussion using the debrief slides and the simulation report.

2

Explain the various reports including the summary report that shows which team(s) had the best outcomes.

3

Conclude the xCHANGE session with the debrief slides and the teams presenting their key lessons.
